{"id":977,"date":"2012-10-05T10:36:45","date_gmt":"2012-10-05T10:36:45","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/labs.stefanschleifer.com\/codex\/?p=977"},"modified":"2013-04-12T23:08:49","modified_gmt":"2013-04-12T23:08:49","slug":"or-three","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/everycodextellsastory.eu\/?p=977","title":{"rendered":"&#8230;or three?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Then there is a gap in the book\u2019s history, but early in the fifteenth century Bodley 264 was in England, where a second poem about Alexander, this time in English, was added on new pieces of parchment, and soon after this a third and final text was added into the remaining leaves of the second book: a French prose version of the book of Marco Polo.\u00a0 Both parts were then bound together to make one book.<\/p>\n<p>This new book then passed to a series of owners, some of whom wrote their names in the manuscript to indicate their possession of such a prized object.\u00a0 Here you can see where Richard Woodville, Lord Rivers, has written his name (&#8216;de Widevelle&#8217;, at the end of the first line) and the date 1466 (&#8216;lan de grace mille iiii lxvi&#8217;, at the end of the fourth line):<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_2369\" style=\"width: 937px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"http:\/\/everycodextellsastory.eu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/03\/274r.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-2369\" class=\" wp-image-2369 \" alt=\"Oxford, Bodleian Library MS.
